The former Christie Cookie plant in Etobicoke is well-known for its water tower that is visible from the nearby Gardiner Expressway. (Carlos Osorio /The Globe and Mail)

27 new towers?! That does sound crazy. I'd like to see a good mix of commercial/residential.

I saw Brad Lamb on the news talking about it being the next City Place. My understanding is City Place is now being used by urban planners of what not to do. None the less the developers are salivating at this.

Mark Grimes is rightly saying that he will fight to keep it as an area designated for employment. I would hope to see it has a real mixed you use area. Work, live and play. Offices, town homes, parks, condos and retail would work great on the site. That's my opinion anyways.I cant see it reverting back to industrial use these days though.

Hey maybe the site of a new Toronto Casino?

(just kidding!)

I don't have a fully formed opinion on this yet, but here's some news articles for more background. I will say, that I've always wondered how long the plant would last as the condos build up around it.
