Toronto, ON, (May 20, 2015) The Parent Board at the New Toronto Co-operative Nursery School is thrilled to announce that Jennifer Schmelter and Kylah Connolly have respectively been offered the new Supervisor and Teaching Assistant positions for the 2015/16 school year.
These roles have been held by long time NTCNS early educators Sue O’Neill and Pat Stanley. With over 50 years of combined experience at the school, they have crafted a program that creates a fun, warm and caring environment for young learners to make their first transition to school. The co-operative is built on the model that parent engagement and involvement is paramount to making this early step a confident and comfortable one. During the 2015/16 school year Sue and Pat will be retiring from the Nursery School and gradually transitioning in the new teachers. They will be dearly missed.
Jennifer Schmelter and Kylah Connely look to build on the wonderful reputation and programming of the current school but also to bring some new and exciting ideas. Coincidentally both are past parents of the school and have a great understanding and appreciation for the co-operative model as well as the unique charm of learning on the lake.
Jennifer is an Ontario Certified teacher with excellent inter personal skills. She is extremely well organized, dedicated and has a philosophy of education that centers on the whole child and celebrates the uniqueness of each student. She believes in nurturing creative and critical thinking within a framework that involves co-operation, investigation and imagination. Most importantly as the mother of two boys and a past parent she is passionate about the New Toronto Co-operative Nursery School.
Kylah Connolly is also a mother of three, a past parent at the school and passionate about carrying on the 45 year tradition of providing a quality pre-school experience. Currently enrolled in Early Childhood Education at Humber College, she has the enthusiasm, organization and knowledge that will allow her and Jennifer to work together as a strong and dynamic team.
