Any thoughts on this opening up in the neighborhood? Not sure if it's affiliated with the one on yonge street but looks like it opened on Nov.1 and located on lakeshore between 8th and 9th street.

Thought I would open up the forum and see what your thoughts are. I know we're happy when the cash and cheque places close and new businesses come in.. just not sure that this type of business is what I had in mind as revitalizing our area. Just my thought.

This is an interesting debate, with lots of great posts. I see things starting to trend towards personal attacks. Let's try and keep to the argument at hand folks. Thanks.

i agree..

An adult conversation is the only way to get answers...mud flinging only creates more BS. As a patient advocate what i run into is people with closed minds, people that will not look at something that they don't believe in or believe something that they heard many years ago not knowing science may have proven some stuff as just BS.. today there is more research and more information available at the tips of our fingers. there are people willing to talk and educate such as researchers and doctors... Don't like to read or it takes up to much time, try some of the videos that can be found almost everywhere online.

when it comes to cannabis, who do you believe, the person who gets a short one sided education or a person who has spent years researching and studying? i tend to lean towards the researcher...

this doesn't only apply with cannabis but even in the case of these lounges. while city hall hasn't requested public input on these concerns... experience tells us that the police do not spend a lot of time at these lounges dealing with noise, violence and or public complaints about anything.

my concern is that won't matter to those in charge because they will create something out of fear and not facts. just like bill c-10.

i also think its a good idea for those with concerns to appoint someone to speak with Marco or someone he appoints to speak. Get together at the lounge or at timmies or some restaurant. this will open a dialogue where the two sides could discuss their concerns and what can be done to deal with them. a simple close the doors is not a discussion.

Marco is obviously inviting to those with concerns because if he wasn't why would he call the drug squad. if he wasn't transparent and was hiding something don't you think the drug squad would be the last people he'd call.

an informed educated debate is the way to go

I am not a business person persay, but I really don't understand the business end of this and how can this be profittable?? , it all just sounds too good to be true from that end....

While it sounds to good to be true it is. There has been one running in the city for several years now and if it wasn't making a profit it would of closed long ago. Just because you don't understand something or are unsure of it is no reason to dislike it or believe it could be fantasy.

Should the local clothing store or convenience store close if people don't understand them or wonder how they make a profit?

As I and others have said several times get educated on the place by visiting and talking with Marco or the staff at this or any lounge.

Wendal,

The difference being, I can actually use the clothing store and convenience store in my community, as far as I am concerned your business does not provide something that the majority of the people around here can frequent and support - thats my frustration.

It would be great if you could tell us how your business can actually and factually benefit the New Toronto community, aside from the facts you have provided that benefit your patrons.

Just sayin....

TDP...

While I post on this thread often i am not the owner or part owner of the business but a person with a medical condition that will benefit from being able to medicate outside my home and away from the public. I am not alone in this as there are about 12,000 +++ (and growing) licensed people in Canada that are just like myself. My quick bio is posted in an earlier post here.

Does a business need to be something that a majority require before opening up in the area? Is that criteria?  What if this was a boot repair or a shoe shining location, would you say the same thing? While at one time shoe repairs were popular but today not many people require them so its a business that not a majority would use.Would a place like this have to move out of the area because a majority wouldn't use it? No of course not but if the business was not viable it would close. It would only survive as long as the people supported it by using its services. Will this happen with Vape on the Lake, only time will tell.

How could this business benefit others who don't medicate? That will be up to the owner and the business community. If they work together there could be many benefits just like if it was a clothing or hardware store. Businesses can get involved in their community by being involved with community projects, whether its donating to building a play ground or assisting in any other community projects. This will require the business association to work with this business like any other business.

Has anyone from the community tried to get engaged with Marco to see if he is willing to participate in any local projects? This would not only help him to be part of the business community but also help the business who don't understand.

its amazing what dialogue and conversation can achieve without all the fear that has been scripted by prohibition.

hopefully I've answered some of your concern
