I now have a routine of grabbing the supplies for our Saturday night dinner between 7th and 3rd. Village butcher for meat. Lakeshore Village Fruit Mart for fruit, veggies and flowers for the table, bread from Delicia, and Ontario Foods for the extra ingredients. Book end it with a classic breakfast at the Lucky Dice, and an ice cream at Sweet Olenka's and that's a great part of your Saturday.

What's your Lakeshore routine? Wagon ride to Sweet Olenka's after dinner? Birthday party preparation between the Loot Lady and filling balloons up at the Dollar way? Coffee and conversation at the Big Guy's Coffee Shop?

Let us know.

YES to all that!

We are at a point where 90% of out groceries and more than 70% of our restaurant visits are with in that stretch!
The car doesn't get out much...
Love the 'hood!

We are just a little confused why there are so many store fronts empty for so long... and hope that someone takes over the Chelsea bakery! That was one of our very regular stops. :(
If I've got the stroller, I usually make a big square right between Third and Fifth. Sometimes we stop into Dandy on the corner of Fourth, they have Hot Wheels cars lined up down the counter near the photo lab and that will keep my 3.5 year old happy during our shopping trip. Then its off to TD to take out some cash. Shoppers Drug mart for things like dish soap and toilet paper, diapers and so on....Into the Dollar Way for light bulbs and gift bags if we need any. Vegetable market for some great mushrooms, I like to buy them loose. They also have fresh ONtario peas these days, and fresh garlic. Often we visit the bookstore for some kids books, which are a great price. Then its off to Delicia for some fresh bread. They have a new baker, and now that Chelsea is closed, this is where we buy our bread (Or the Dimplemier which is stocked at Ontario Foods) Crossing the street now and into ONtario Foods for all kinds of things (btw, they carry Anchovies in the cooler section, and also capers, two hard items to find on Lake Shore. We get rice, beans, tofu, chicken, canned goods, milk, cream, yogurt...you get the idea, we can buy a lot there. Then to Big Guy's for my home stock of coffee, 1/2 lb of Morning Glory. Then sometimes If I haven't completely worn out the little ones I"ll stop into Fancy Boutique and eye something that I can pick up when I'm not with the kiddies.

And thats our shopping routine!
I live in Long Branch, so I go to Karpaty's for their great fresh bread, soups, deli stuff; Rexall for pharmacy items; one of the 2 convenience stores at Long Branch for snacks and coffee filters, the No Frills for groceries and garden items (40% off right now). Sometimes I stop at Fair Grounds for a really great coffee and delicious muffin; Tatsu for special bakery items. I go to the Lanzarotta in Mississauga for my fruits and veggies; Black Angus for roasts. I go all the way down to the east end of Lake Shore for wine at the LCBO (I wish they had an outpost closer to me), and sometimes I will then go to all the places you are mentioning in New Toronto while I'm down there.
We are also regulars at Long Branch Fish and Chips, Georges the Greek, Barb's Rotis, Il Paesano, The Canadiana, Kalamata.
And we sometimes go to Port Credit and Clarkson to spend our time and money.
We have found in our 3 years down here that we like to stay on the Lakeshore, and would rather travel east and west on it, than go north to Bloor and the Queensway. When we come over the Islington bridge south, we feel like we are entering our neighbourhood when we see the lake. And everything feels better.
Thanks for this reply. I know that Kathy and I are rather New Toronto centric so I was hopeful to hear an LB response. Mimico? Let's hear it.

AGREED!
Definitely Village Butcher (And Around the Corner now for breakfast -- delish!), Sweet Olenka's for ice cream and treats, Birds & Beans for Coffee, Vital Planet for soap, toothpaste, some other extras etc... There is also a flower shop across from Birds & Beans where I like to get my flowers. I wish there were more options for organic and local fruits and veggies. I see that Village Butcher and Vital Planet are selling some organic but I'd like local too!
After a swim in Rotary Park pool, we take the strollers and kids and walk to Taste Portuguese restaurant for the best pulled-pork sandwiches and Portuguese chicken, then head to Delicia's bakery for a Latte and pastry, finished off with some ice cream from Sweet Olenka's. Summer in Lakeshore Village is the best!
Since I'm near Marie Curtis park, I always get my tea from Fairgrounds. I love to sit on Woody's patio with friends for a pint and a kick ass burger and Burrito Boyz is my defacto late night fast food joint. Shopping is No Frills, and Top Foods along with AJ Lanzarotta in Mississauga for produce. I love Pulcinella's and our place for a great dinner. RBC and the LCBO round out my usual daily ventures. We do our pastry/desserts inhouse but I will always stop at Tatsu or Sweet Olenka's for chocolate or other kinds of pastries. For juices, I always hit Chasers - Birds and Beans if I am at resto and Valumart is the Cafe's emergency "oh crap-need this for service" stop.
