As Facebook becomes more and more popular we thought it might helpful for our members to see when there are updates on the site through their Facebook newsfeed.

By friending the Our Lakeshore Facebook account you can see when members of have posted new Discussions, Blogs, Photos and Events.

Search for Our Lakeshore in Facebook and send an invitation to connect.

Yes I looked at that. The integration I did to Facebook relies on an application for Twitter, and that's only available for a user. Thanks for the suggestion.

You may want to try setting Our Lakeshore up as a Page, then users can become Fans. I believe privacy is protected that way and fans can't see other people's personal information or surnames.

That's how I set it up. The only thing I was trying to accomplish was to allow people to get alerts on their FB news feed when there is new content on Our Lakeshore. Our Lakeshore is not meant to be a social network in the way Facebook is. Because the audience is very geographically local, we don't encourage people to share a lot of personal information, just share public information about the area. I know that privacy settings on Facebook are stricter for viewing details on Friends, rather than other members of a group, so I chose to do it that way. Let me know if you think there's a better way to accomplish this.

For some reason, 'our lakeshore' on FB is set up as a person, rather than a group?
